Surf and shop at City Centre Deira, Mirdif City Centre and Mall of the Emirates

Malls now offer free Wi-Fi access

Dubai, UAE; September 22, 2013:  From sharing ‘what’s on your mind’ to checking in to the coolest place in town, no doubt mobile internet helps friends and families to stay in touch and keep each other up-to-date.  To make this accessible to the growing mobile internet users and valued shoppers, City Centre Deira, Mall of the Emirates and Mirdif City Centre now offer free Wi-Fi service for all visitors.

Guests only need to register once at any of the malls.  Passwords will be sent via SMS to any local mobile number and the same details can be used to log in at City Centre Deira, Mirdif City Centre or Mall of the Emirates.   Majid Al Futtaim Properties is currently working on a system, which will later on enable tourists to receive passwords to their international numbers.

“We currently live in an evolving technology era with a futuristic generation,” said Fuad Mansoor Sharaf, Senior Director - Property Management at Majid Al Futtaim Properties.  “Providing shoppers with wireless technology throughout the mall highlights how Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ shopping malls evolve to complement the lifestyle of our guests. We are excited to offer shoppers free wi-fi throughout the mall to provide them further flexibility and easy internet access while they are at the mall.”

According to the UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA)*, there were 14,949,937 active mobile subscriptions and 1,007,774 internet subscribers in the second quarter of 2013. Also this year, global market research company, TNS, presented its Annual Mobile Life Study** about consumer behavior that resulted to UAE outshining MENA regional and worldwide averages in mobile internet usage.  The UAE topped at 73% followed by MENA that remained at 41% and worldwide at 51%.

The Wi-Fi service at Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ Dubai shopping malls aims to deliver quick and easy access to information and social networking sites.  It will also eliminate data charges for those who are on metered data packages.
